Our methods - Harnessing public opinion to influence change
We think that public policy decisions are better when they are informed by public opinion.
Our methods help individuals and organisations draw together public opinion to positively influence change.
FOCUS GROUPS
Groups of citizens recruited for one-off discussions of a subject of issue. They are used to garner views and opinions typically for research purposes. We are presently working with focus groups in partnership with Nottingham University to produce the first in-depth study into attitudes toward minimum unit pricing for alcohol.
CITIZENS' PANELS
Citizens' Panels are a standing pool of people recruited for their views on an ongoing basis. Citizens' panels can be used to build a picture of local people's views of services, strategies and issues. Our Life has released several pieces of research based on panels across the North West.
CITIZENS' SUMMITS
Citizens' Summits are large-scale deliberative public meetings that use communications technology to facilitate discussions.
SURVEY RESEARCH
Surveys are used to collect data from multiple sources and are a widely used and popular technique in social research. We have experience in survey research design, question construction and sampling strategy. For more information on our survey research please contact the policy and research team on 0161 233 7514.
Take a look at our case studies for examples of our work and to read more about how we've put these processes into action, or alternatively, contact us on 0161 233 7500 or email info@ourlife.org.uk for more information.
