Dr Alison Giles
Chief Executive
Alison has led the development o
f Our Life from its inception as a programme within NHS North West to the independent social enterprise it is today.
Previously Alison worked at Department of Health in London where she had responsibility for managing the cross-government physical activity programme, and prior to that was an associate director at the national policy think tank the National Heart Forum.
Alison has also held posts at Kings College London and at the International Agency for Research on Cancer in Lyon, France. Alison has a master's degree in public health, a PhD in cancer research and is a Fellow of the Faculty of Public Health.
Peter Bryant
Head of Public Engagement
Peter leads Our Life's public engagement work. He is responsible for the design and implementation of various processes which allow citizens throughout the North West to have their say on key wellbeing and health issues.
Previously Peter established his own community engagement consultancy through which he offered training in various participatory approaches as well as managing many local, national and international participatory and deliberative projects. He has worked in local government and higher education in the North West and for two years for the British Government in South Africa where he established a training programme on participatory recreation facility management, based in townships and rural areas.
Matt Bowen
Head of Policy and Research
Matt leads the policy and research team at Our Life and is responsible for developing Our Life's research capacity and the evidence base supporting its campaign activity. Matt also leads on the audit and evaluation of Our Life's work.
Matt has worked on research spanning both the public, private and academic sectors leading projects for the Welsh Assembly Government, Regional Development Agencies, Housing Associations and trusts and local government.
